Manipur employees have got huge relief this New Year as Chief Minister, N Biren Singh announced a 7 percent derh allowance increase now taking up the dearness allowance (mehagai bhate par aaya update) to 39 percent from the current 32 percent. Hence, above 1 lakh employees from the state will benefit out of this as it has increased their financial condition. Government Employees are enjoying a dearness allowance
Currently, Central Government Employees are enjoying a dearness allowance of 53 percent, whereas Manipur Government employees are getting 14 percent less from this amount. This gap really counts in light of the pressures of inflation. The dearness allowance for central employees continues to be effective till December this year and is again expected to increase at the beginning of the new year.
As per the Seventh Pay Commission’s recommendations, dearness allowance will be increased twice in a year for central government employees and it is awarded to them half yearly. Such arrangements are made with a view to improving the economic condition of government employees, but the variation in allowances in the states creates concern.
Unsecured Loans for Displaced Persons:
The CM of Manipur had briefed regarding startup initiatives being taken for entrepreneurs (as also urged by Manipur CM for entrepreneurs). Government has extended loans for these 426 internally displaced under the Chief Minister Entrepreneurship Assistance Scheme without any guarantee.
Loan of 50 thousand rupees
The scheme for such persons displaced from their homes due to communal riot provides an unsecured loan of 50 thousand rupees. This likely empowers the affected people to start their businesses and achieves self-reliance. A major step towards promoting entrepreneurship in the state.
The CM mentioned that till now seven startups have been identified. They are prepared to employ 432 displaced. In addition, the CM stated that about 500 youths would get residential skill training in Delhi upon the induction of Air India and Indigo as pilot members.
