From media reports, Rajya Sabha MP has asked to put number of questions before the government with regards to the pay hike. He asked, “Can government announce in the budget of 2025-26 the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission?” To this, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary replied. Responding, he said that no proposal is being considered to form the 8th Pay Commission.
This was a recent query from the Rajya Sabha MP regarding the government and salary hike, inquiring about whether the Eighth Pay Commission will be there in the budget of 2025-26. To this, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary clarified that there is no consideration being given presently to the proposal on the constitution of the Eighth Pay Commission.

Every ten years a new pay commission is constituted. Recently in 2014, the Seventh Pay Commission was constituted, whose recommendations were implemented in 2016. It is expected that a big decision can be taken soon in this matter, which will improve the salaries and allowances of government employees.
With the implementation of the new pay commission, the salary of central employees and pensioners may increase three times. Due to which there will be a strong increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of the employees. According to media reports, if a new pay commission is formed, then the basic salary of central employees can increase by at least Rs 34000.
